Sadly, the Covid experience has pretty much eliminated anything other than online efforts to cover costs.

Raffle #40 for Bluff City Greyhounds
August 20, 2018 Congratulations to
Barb Fields of Cape Coral FL
for helping us reach $3205 in ticket sales!
We'll be mailing a check tomorrow to
Bluff City Greyhounds, thanks to all of YOU who purchased tickets!
This 9” X 7” greyhound was hand carved by Dr. Mike Horwitz of Ventura CA - it was the prototype for a larger version which won First Prize at the Del Mar Fair in Woodcarving! Of all walnut, it took Dr. Horwitz nearly 150 hours to carve all 45 pieces and assemble them into this greyhound collectible to beat ALL greyhound collectibles!
Bluff City Greyhounds has, for 18 years, been coming to the rescue of those greyhounds who require extraordinary care. Sometimes adoption groups will bring them a seemingly unadaptable dog, and sometimes adoption groups will find homes for recovered dogs. Sometimes, however, in the case of severe birth defects, the dogs are loved by Cora and Tom Moro of Bluff City as long as they live.
There are currently 14 greyhounds in their home, seven of whom are being treated for seizures, and two who are being transported to Columbus Ohio (eight times since January- a 1050 mile trip) for Dr. Mason’s Listerial Trials for osteosarcoma.
Bluff City Greyhounds does little or no fundraising of their own and Northcoast Greyhounds wants to help them provide help for the helpless.

local shelters - especially dogs accepted from cruelty seizures, there is just no end to veterinary bills.
After admiring Ms Orwin's exquisite artistry for more than 10 years, we're offering this piece to benefit a group we admire and another family of supporters has offered to match what we earn here.

RR #28: Greyhound Support Transport
October 18, 2011 Congratulations to
Stephanie LaNoue of Plano TX
for helping us reach $1525 in ticket sales!
We're mailing a check for $1750
and special thanks to GT for putting the amount over $1500 allowing for the round-up to the next level. Your purchase, GT, made a big difference for GST!
In my mind, there is nothing more important we can do for greyhounds right now than to help with transporting them to adoption groups.
With thirteen greyhound racetracks in Florida and most states having none at all, the state is saturated with pets while distant parts of the country are begging for greyt companions. Stepping up to the plate is Greyhound Support Transport who stands ready to haul greyhounds, lacking only the money to do it more often.
We can help! This lovely handcrafted box by a Humboldt County artisan comes with a spectacular pendant! Your ticket purchases will help, 100%, to assure one more greyhound is transported to one more waiting home!
|
RR #27: The Greyhound Alliance
June 7, 2011 Congratulations to
Barbara Mecca of Hoffman Estates IL
for helping us reach $2645 in ticket sales!
We're mailing a check for $2750 (rounded up to the nearest $250) along with $250 in "refunds" from GT in DC, and GT in PA who both directed their earned refunds to The Alliance.
This all-volunteer Midwest organization works with just about ANYbody to achieve their goals: "The Greyhound Alliance is dedicated to greyhound welfare, facilitating greyhound rescue and adoption, and furthering education and support for greyhound owners, potential adopters, and the community at large. Whether through education, fundraising, or more hands-on efforts like transport and placement, we are committed to doing our part."
The majority of TGA's effort is put into hauling Southern Dogs North- which is our main incentive in offering NCG support with this raffle. We hope you'll think of your ticket purchase as providing the means to transport one more greyhound to safety.

But we can help from this distance and are doing so at the request of Cora Marro who commissioned this lovely collar and offered us the opportunity to turn it into a Refund Raffle with THREE very special prizes for the winner!
Our breed, no matter where they live, benefits from Dr. Couto's efforts, so we hope you'll consider returning the favor by purchasing some raffle tickets here - Cora will present the check for 100% of your ticket purchases to Dr. Couto at the OSU Conference on May 7th.
Kind and anonymous donors have offered to match the first $3000 of tickets sold in memory of Pickles Brockhoff!

We've mailed a check for $3500 today to CIGA!
This is our annual raffle for CIGA- a group who we admire enough to repeat the effort every year. CIGA isn't an adoption group per se, they exist primarily to move dogs to adoption groups from the Dubuque and Dairyland racetracks, and, specifically, to take in the broken legs, pay for the surgeries, foster throughout rehab, and then turn healthy greyhounds over to adoption groups to place- most often Greyhounds Only in Chicago.
Visit the Raffle Page for more pictures and information. Imagine each of last year's broken legs pictured (200 legs in 10 years!) multiplied by $2000-$3000 and you'll realize how deserving these folks are all year long!

With the closing of the last of Colorado's greyhound racetracks, AHH has become a safe haven for the underdogs: the aged pets from farms, the broodies, the injured, and pups with no racing future. Currently, 30% of the population at AHH is over 7 years of age.
We hope you'll buy a ticket (or lots of them!), or contribute directly to AHH, or convince your adoption group to accept some of Dr. Weir's special needs greyhounds.
Special needs greyhounds have a special love to give....

Those being picked up by GAIN volunteers are found abandoned, starved, and abused. We've just added happy pics of new arrivals to the US- worth a look!
Guam is a US territory. We are US citizens, and NCG feels compelled to take a stance for these greyhounds, helping as many as possible find loving homes, some here in the US.
Every dollar you spend in this raffle will assist the tireless and overburdened GAIN volunteers in caring for the greyhounds in Guam and helping to keep them safe.

Even with numerous fundraisers for Knuckles, bills remain to be paid and greyhounds like Paula and Blue with serious breaks continue arriving on their doorstep- these folks just can't say no.
Though a single $5 ticket will win this visual reminder for the winning family's Thanksgiving table, surely each one of us will be giving thanks that day for the selfless volunteers all over the country who do what GRR does for retiring racers. Consider making a Thanksgiving gesture by purchasing a ticket or make a direct contribution to GRR. You just might be rewarded with a valuable family heirloom.
